100th anniversary of Britain's entry into the First World War.
It is hard to believe that 100 years ago today this country entered into war with Germany. There are many personal poignant memories being shared and it reminded me of another closer to home. This man, my husbands grandfather, fought for the Gordon Highlanders and was shot through both legs fighting in the trenches. He was sent for recuperation to a military Hospital in Scotland, where he fell in love and later married his nurse, my husbands Grandmother. We all have a lot to thank that German sniper for!
It is comforting to know that true love and a long lasting marriage can come out of even the darkest and most painful of times.
